Veuve Clicquot Masters Polo Val De Vie 2011

2011 has definitely been filled with big events. More importantly it’s April, which means my birth month and aside from the magnitude of my magnificent Birthday Party, which turned out to be a large event in itself, last Sunday the social event of the season and possibly year took place. The Veuve Clicquot Masters, at the beautiful, serene and picturesque Val De Vie estate in Paarl.

The only place to be rocking it that day was in the VIP, where you could relax on fabulous couches and sofas, enjoy bottles and bottles and just when you think you’ve had enough, even more Veuve Clicquot Champagne and watch the Polo with some good friends as well as enjoy the entertainment thereafter. A lovely quote here to remember is: “Too much of anything is bad but too much Champagne is just right” – Mark Twain…

While on the topic of VIP, all the celebs and VIPs came out to play and enjoy this beautifully organised event and perfect Sunday. I felt more than at home lounging in the sun looking across the scenic Val De Vie estate, enjoying the full bodied goodness of the Veuve bubbles and the Polo which took place. The Veuve Clicquot team took the honours in the main game with a solid victory.

Just when I thought I was having the perfect day, the desserts rolled out and my word. Sweets and Bubbles. Couldn’t get any better. At one stage I was debating what was better but indulged in both. No regrets. Some friends got up to some interesting things of which the evidence is online somewhere but it was all in good fun.

Both ladies and gentlemen were out in style and damn… Beautiful and stunning are two words that come to mind. There was some unique and fashionable hat designs and for those wanting hats, the Little Hattery was on hand for both ladies and gentlemen to make sure everyone was kitted out. VIPs also enjoyed a special Pamper station where hair and make-up was done by Marios Company and David Sharp respectively.

Lindiwe Suttle was not only stylish but also did a live performance which included her new single, Man Made Moon. Her voice is just WOW. Nick Matthews of Gazelle also performed keeping the vibe in check in terms of quality music.

After arriving just after noon, I rocked it in style and in top form till well after 6pm and even then the fun continued in various forms. Loads of entertainment, both official and unofficial. If you missed out on this event then you really missed out on a well organised event filled with champagne, beautiful people, thoroughbreds, polo, great company, stunning weather, fashion and cars. All of my favourite things. You definitely need to catch the Veuve Clicquot Masters next year. One event that cannot be missed. Check out some of the pictures below.
