China have taken a Russian military aircraft carrier named Kiev and have transformed it into a luxury hotel at the cost of an estimated US$15 million. The “floating hotel” is reported to be called Tianjin and it’s believed that this unique take on luxury will draw interest when it opens.

The carrier has been transformed into 148 luxury rooms which includes 2 presidential suits as well as 3 VIP guest rooms and 137 standard rooms. It also features a dining and common areas decked out in traditional oriental color and pattern schemes.

Liu Chang the marketing manager has said that China didn’t previously have aircraft carriers and that as people are curious about it, they can come to Tianjin and fulfill their curiosity. It will be interesting to see the success of this once it opens.

Launched last year by CMB Yachts, the Mystic Superyacht is a 46 metre object of design and beauty.It’s built entirely of composite material and the interiors are designed by German Schnaase Interior Design.

The Mystic Yacht has a minimal but modern open plan design and moving to more intimate style in the rooms. It’s all in the details but the main dining room and entertainment area through to the gym gives a light and airy feel to it making the stay pleasurable.

There are a total of five guest cabins on the Mystic while the master suite offers a full bedroom with a walk-in bathroom featuring full bath, shower and basins. Again the details here are focused toward luxury but if any of the ten guests on board wish to stay, they’re in for a treat.

The sun deck is as spacious and perfect for relaxing by the bar or lazing in the sun while the jacuzzi will definitely get put to use on those cocktail and leisure evenings. It’s definitely a superyacht and the best news is, it’s for sale. Burgess and Bluewater Yachting are the company selling this fine yacht. It’s definitely something you’ll buy because you want one and want that added bit of luxury and enjoyment to life.

The last three months in the Southern Hemisphere are always my favourite because it’s the run to Summer, loads of parties, fun in the sun and goodness. With that said, October a month not only to be celebrated in life but also to be aware of Breast Cancer.

With that in mind, the annual BlackBerry Pink Polo At Val De Vie Estate in Franschhoek was held last week and it’s a day of fashion, wine, bubbles and sweet goodness but the beautiful day out is all about raising awareness as well as funds in aid of Breast Cancer.

The weather wasn’t the best but the vibe was and it all started with a personal greeting by Edith Venter and welcome to this magical event upon entry. To settle in we were greeted with loads of sweet goodness and a high tea but I opted for the bubbles as well the as the award winning Val De Vie GVC wine. The weather soon heated up and made for a fun an interesting day out.

It’s always great to take some time out and catch up with good friends as well as meet loads of quality people and enjoy a beautiful day out at picturesque estate. Kobus Dippenaar’s fashion show was particularly interesting and as an animal lover, I loved the addition of the Russian Wolfhound / Borzoi on the day.

The Polo was fun and unique elements were added by the commentator and the unnamed party that commandeered the microphone and added some rogue commentary. The auction was interesting especially the fun had behind the scenes and in the crowd which all began coincidentally after the bubbles and wine settled in. I’m happy to see that the day was well supported by many and the same for the auction as Breast Cancer awareness is important and something that everyone should know about.

I just have to mention that amazing chocolate cake as well as interesting ice cream combinations and Merci chocolate. That plus the assortment of quality Val De Vie wines and bubbles just added value to this already great day out. Dubai never ceases to amaze with happens in terms of luxury and the latest addition is a new luxury hotel that is associated with the international Versace brand.

Palazzo Versace Dubai luxury hotel will feature marble floors on the inside as well as other materials associated with opulence. The hotel will also feature multiple spa facilities, restaurants as well as boutiques and a variety of pool areas.

The new Palazzo Versace Dubai luxury hotel will cost around AED2.3 Billion. The hotel will feature 213 rooms and 169 residences for the ultra rich. The single bedroom units are 1500 square feet in size and the 6 bedroom units are around 14000 square feet of luxury.

The flip back hard top sees a reduction in 25kg of weight and it opens in just 14 seconds. Ferrari say you can have a normal conversation even at 200km/h thanks to their new optimised air flow system when the roof is down. With the 458 Spider, you’re still able to enjoy the same speed and power but now in convertible format. This is definitely going on my wishlist. Check out the video below. 25th of August marks the date of the annual Ard Matthews & Friends Benefit Concert with the MyLife Foundation at the Upper East Side Hotel in Woodstock Cape Town. On the bill is Ard Matthews who will be headlining joined by D7, Zolani from Freshly Ground, Louise Day, Laudo, and Dino Moran who will all be giving of their time for this cause.

For those who don’t know MyLife is a foundation that aims to make a difference in the lives of children and youth in South Africa. All ticket sales and money raised through the auction on the night will go to the Ubuntu Villages.

MyLife plans to uplift society and give those who are in a need a chance at a normal life in society as well as make a difference in the community with children and youth. This is close to the heart of Ard and artists are standing together with Ard Matthews for this great cause.

You know the guys in Dubai love to go big right? Then it should be no surprise when we say that the Dubai based luxury hotel chain Jumeirah has opened its first property Europe, more specifically Frankfurt in Germany.

Jumeirah welcomed its first guests to its new Frankfurt property on the 1st of August, ahead of the official opening in September. For those who don’t know, Jumeirah are more popularly known for their Jumeirah Beach Hotel and Burj Al Arab.

We’re not talking about an ordinary hotel. We’re talking about a Jumeirah 25 floor, 218 room hotel in Frankfurt. However, with all rooms measuring 35 square meters and above, Jumeirah says its hotel offers the largest rooms in Frankfurt.

On the ground floor, guests can check out an exclusive chocolaterie and patisserie, as well as a lobby bar, with a fireplace and views over the Palais Thurn und Taxis.

The hotel’s signature restaurant, Max on One, is managed by Executive Chef Martin Steiner and serves “innovative interpretations” of regional and German dishes. Unsurprisingly, the new building boasts a host of green technology, including an air conditioning system which regulates the temperature using heat detectors and motion sensors to minimize wasted usage.

Talise, the hotel’s signature spa, features two saunas, freestanding bathtubs and tropical rain showers, although more active guests can use the neighboring Premium Fitness First health club. Although Frankfurt is currently the only Jumeirah property on the European continent, it will be joined by a luxury property at Port Soller, Mallorca, in Spring 2012.

There’s a new hotel in London and the grand opening is next week. It’s being said that this is one of the most high tech hotels in the world. The Eccleston Square Hotel is opening on August 1st and is promising a unique experience packed with technology.

It is set to be the first hotel in Europe to offer guests access to a 3D Blu-ray library, films that can be enjoyed in the property’s 39 rooms kitted out with 46-inch Panasonic Neo Plasma high-definition 3D televisions.

The hotel features a Media Lounge which is a screening room with a 103″ Panasonic 3D media wall television. Every room offers an iPad 2, complete with an app which allows users to order hotel services, as well as a separate screen in the bathroom so guests don’t miss any of the action while in the bath.

For guests staying at the hotel, there are electronically adjustable beds which include a massage feature, 300 thread count sheets together with each room having Nespresso machines, multi-head showers and full-length folding mirrors.

The Eccleston Square Hotel is having an special opening rate of £250 / €280 a night for early birds through to September.
