This week Louis Vuitton opened its new flagship branch and to call this a store, would be pure blasphemy in the eyes of luxury, design and fashion. The new Louis Vuitton location on London’s trendy Bond Street lives up to its Maison label and is absolutely more of an opulent, thoughtful mansion than just a space. Jean-Paul Gaultier, the enfant terrible of French fashion, is stepping down as designer of women’s ready-to-wear for Hermès. He will be replaced by Christophe Lemaire, who has revitalised Lacoste since and has also worked under Christian Lacroix and Thierry Mugler.
The spring-summer 2011 collection, to be presented in October, will be the last designed by Gaultier for Hermès. Gaultier has had a relationship with Hermès since 1999, when the luxury-goods maker bought a 35 percent stake in his fashion house for $23 million.

Vienna is the best city in the world to live, a survey said Wednesday, putting Europe at the top of the rankings with Asia and Africa trailing. The Austrian capital “retains the top spot as the city with the world’s best quality of living,” British consultancy firm Mercer said in its 2010 Quality of Living Survey.
