A Scottish Whisky firm on Thursday unveiled bottles of the oldest single malt whisky in the world, having spent the best part of a century inside an oak barrel.
Gordon and MacPhail’s Mortlach 70-Year-Old Speyside was sampled at a launch party in Edinburgh Castle, where it was escorted through the doors by pipers and a military escort.
“It matured for 70 years in the cask and that is what makes it the oldest whisky in the world,” a spokeswoman for Gordon and MacPhail said.

In just two weeks early last year, an 11-year-old boy from Azerbaijan became the owner of nine waterfront mansions in Dubai’s Palm Jumeirah.
His name is Heydar Aliyev. That also happens to be the name of the son of Azerbaijan’s president, Ilham Aliyev. Furthermore, Dubai records show the purchaser’s date of birth to be the same as that of the president’s son.

Franschhoek Motor Museum Concours 2010 Review

Thanks to CAR Magazine, I had the pleasure of attending the Franschhoek Motor Museum Concours & Time Trial event last weekend. If you’re not entirely certain what I mean by this, it’s a show dedicated to special vehicles featured on the day which stand in the Franschhoek Motor Museum.
The setting was the beautiful L’Ormarins Wine Farm, the same farm that sponsors the annual L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate Race. Once again a big problem, the heat. It was 38 Degrees out and not a breeze in sight surrounded by a cloudless blue …
